Trails Beyond the Horizon is geen game voor iedereen en dat is zowel zijn kracht als zijn zwakte. De titel beloont jarenlange opbouw met sterke onthullingen en een overtuigende finale, maar vraagt daar veel geduld voor terug.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon zet de Calvard arc van de reeks voort op een grotendeels geslaagde manier. Het verhaal is sterk en de cast is kleurrijk, maar helemaal foutloos is de reis ook niet. Het verhaal gaat heel traag in het begin (een typisch probleem van de franchise) en tegelijk is dit ook totaal geen beginnersvriendelijk instappunt.
